Find out about South Somerset Homes' Bruton plans

4th February 2008

South Somerset Homes is holding a pre-planning information event at Jubilee Park Pavilion, Godminster Lane which is almost directly opposite the development site on Thursday 21 st February. The event is open to the public from 3.30 to 6.30pm and then the plans will be open for consultation with Bruton Town Councilors from 6.30 to 7.00pm. The main objective of the information event is to explain the details of the proposed development with the local community and listen to people’s views.

The proposal is to demolish twenty two PRC Reema flats built after the war and replace with a mixture of thirty three houses and flats on three separate sites. To date SSH have carried out extensive consultation with residents, planners and the highway department. Ecological enhancement, soil characteristics and noise and acoustics assessments have been carried out and the intention is to submit the planning application following the consultation.

All members of the public are invited to the event, where they can meet with staff from South Somerset Homes sales and lettings, housing management and development teams along with the architects and constructors. Full plans of the development will be available to view, comment forms will also be available for the local community to record their views.

Mark Dillon, Development Manager for South Somerset Homes added, ‘We believe the design of the scheme will result in a modern, ecologically sound, balanced community for people wishing to live in Bruton. Everyone from the local community will be very welcome to comment on our proposal.’
