The items were presented to the nurses from the Unit on Monday 2 April at Portcullis Road in Langport. There was a total of 14 blankets and 60 cardigans (plus a selection of bonnets, booties and gloves) which were knitted by the ladies over a 6 month timescale.
One of the residents, Doris Harris was joined by nine other residents (whose ages range from 59 to 86 years) to form the ‘knit and natter’ group. Since one of the resident’s great grandson’s had been cared for in the Special Care Baby Unit the residents decided to knit items to help this section.
