South Somerset Homes help local youth cricket club to set up youth team
5 May 2006

South Somerset Homes are helping West and Middle Chinnock Cricket Club to set up a youth cricket team. The youth cricket club will meet once a week throughout the summer and is being targeted at boys and girls aged between 6 and 12 years old. If the team proves popular with the young people the cricket club is hoping to extend the teams for the older age groups next season.

The team has been set up to give the younger people of the village a focus for their energy and to help them all have a strong sense of belonging within the village community. This was as a result of some anti-social behaviour and vandalism in some parts of the village.

Libby Trott, Youth Coordinator for West & Middle Chinnock Cricket Club who works at South Somerset Homes said, “We are really thrilled with the donation from South Somerset Homes, every donation we receive allows us to buy more equipment and to provide professional coaching for the children. We cannot thank people enough for their donations, but if there is anyone else who would like to make a donation they would be gratefully received.”
