Two of South Somerset Homes sheltered scheme managers will retire in June after a combined 30 years supporting some of the company’s older residents.
Rita Johnson, Scheme Manager at Barn Crescent Sheltered Scheme in Crewkerne joined South Somerset District Council in May 1989. Recently Rita has assisted at Chubbs Lawn Sheltered Scheme following its amalgamation with nearby Turnpike Green in Misterton.
Darrell Jackson, Head of Community Services commented, “Rita is very popular with her residents. Rita’s qualities are being patient and kind, ‘always on an even keel’, calm and conscientious”.
June Walker was appointed in January 1995 as Scheme Manager at Milton House, Mudford before moving to Evergreen Path in September 2000. June took on the amalgamation of Evergreen Path and Sherlands Sheltered Schemes (both in Merriott) in March 2006.
Darrell Jackson added, “June is always cheerful with a good sense of humour, sympathetic, understanding, kind and caring with her residents and an overall lovely person”.
