Celebratory war-time party raises cash
for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice
12 September 2005
A sheltered housing scheme in Yeovil has raised £410 for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice. Pembroke Close Sheltered Housing Scheme, which is owned and managed by South Somerset Homes, has raised the money through hosting a celebratory war-time ‘tea at 3’ party for the residents and friends of the scheme to commemorate 60 years since the end of World War Two.
The residents and friends who attended the tea party all made their own costumes and made a donation towards St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice. The VE tea party brought back memories of the World War Two victory celebrations for many of the residents.
Sharon MacBean, Scheme Manager said, “We all had a lovely afternoon and I am thrilled at the effort that everyone has made making their war-times costumes, they are all superb.”
