Find out about South Somerset Homes' development plans for Ilton
12th November 2007
South Somerset Homes is holding a public consultation event at Ilton Village Hall on Wednesday 14 November between 4.00pm and 7.00pm to tell the community about its proposed development within Ilton and listen to people’s views.
The proposed scheme will see 16 Woolaway houses ( Precast Reinforced Concrete (PRC)) and a garage site demolished to make way for 42 new homes. The homes will be built to exacting modern standards and achieve far more stringent standards than most private developments. All homes will reach Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable homes and include highly insulated timber frames, energy efficient heating, water saving devices, sustainable timber windows and air tight structures.
The new homes will be a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats, 2 and 3 bedroom houses and one bungalow. 12 of the new dwellings will be offered for Shared Ownership. The mixture of tenure has been chosen to reflect the housing need and to provide a well balanced community. The scheme will also include a new landscape design.
South Somerset Homes has recently submitted a new planning application. If the company is successful, and funding is granted by the Housing Corporation, work is likely to start in spring 2008 and be completed by summer 2009.
All existing and prospective residents and neighbours are welcome and are invited to call in and see the new plans. This is an opportunity to talk directly with the design team including; the architect, landscape designer, housing management staff and our in-house planning specialist. Some of the new homes will be offered for Shared Ownership and specialist staff will be available to give advice to prospective purchasers.
Mark Dillon, Development Manager for South Somerset Homes added, “I think this is a fantastic new housing prospect for Ilton, and everyone from the local community will be very welcome to attend and comment on what we are proposing.”
