South Somerset Homes’ residents ‘knit and natter’ for Yeovil District Hospital
13 March 2007

Residents of a South Somerset Homes owned sheltered housing scheme at Portcullis Road in Langport have been busy knitting premature baby clothes for the Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil District Hospital.

The items will be presented to the nurses from the Unit on Monday 2nd April at 2.00pm at Portcullis Road in Langport.

One of the residents, Doris Harris was joined by about nine other residents (whose ages range from 59 to 86 years) to form the ‘knit and natter’ group. Since one of the resident’s great grandsons had been cared for in the Special Care Baby Unit the residents decided to knit items to help this section.

In total three boxes of coats, bonnets, blankets, mittens and bootees have been produced for premature babies.

The local media are invited to a photo opportunity on Monday 2 April at 2.00pm at Portcullis Road, Langport. For more information please contact Julie Whatford on 01935 404509.
