The Wessex Scout Group who are based in Ilchester have raised £600 through various fund raising activities and have bought Great Orchard Sheltered Scheme in Ilchester a new wheelchair.
The scouts made a cart and did a sponsored fun run in it around their local school, Ilchester Primary School, with some scouts riding in the cart and some pushing it! Friends and family sponsored them and Ilchester Parish Council donated £100.
Great Orchard Sheltered Scheme which is owned and managed by South Somerset Homes held an open day where the scouts were invited to present the scheme with the new wheelchair.
Cathy Rutherford, Scheme Manager said, “We are thrilled with the wheelchair, it has been used by many of the residents to take them to the hairdressers or bring them to our coffee mornings. The scouts have been marvellous and have worked so hard to raise the money. It has been a real example of good community spirit and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved.“
