South Somerset Homes' residents enjoy musical solution to distraction tricksters

Residents of South Somerset Homes were last week treated to a musical performance about distraction burglaries at South Somerset Homes Headquarters at Alvington in Yeovil.

TRICKSTER the musical is aimed at helping elderly people avoid falling victim to bogus callers and tells the story of George, an elderly former soldier who is caught out by a distraction burglar. The Musical follows George as he battles with being conned and beats the bogus callers.

A blend of information, entertainment and touched with humour TRICKSTER raises the level of awareness and builds confidence without raising the fear of crime. It provides the audience with the confidence and skills to enable them to identify and reject attempts by criminals wanting to exploit their vulnerability.

Performed by touring theatre company, Solomon Associates (UK) Ltd, t he show features songs set to familiar tunes and ends with a sing-along to popular wartime favourites.

The show was organised by Age Concern Somerset, Safer South Somerset Partnership awarded the grant to provide funding for Soloman Associates, and SSH hosted the event. Stands were provided by Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Somerset Police, Social Services and Age concern.

Karen Davy, Community Involvement Officer for South Somerset Homes said, It was a very enjoyable day and it is a very good way of getting an important message across. Through supporting TRICKSTER we can help send a clear message to those intent on preying on our most vulnerable that their crime will not pay."
