South Somerset Homes sponsors Yeovil Street Soccer project
17 April 2007
Local housing association, South Somerset Homes has donated £500 towards the Street Soccer project at Monmouth Road, Yeovil.
The exciting project is aimed at young people aged 11-18 years and offers a free Floodlit Street Soccer coaching programme delivered by Football Association qualified coaches. It has run for two hours on five Friday evenings during March and April at the Monmouth Road Library car park.
The roadshow format enables young people to access the coaching sessions in their own community, rather than relying on public transport.
The project has been very well supported with over 60 young people attending the session on 13 th April.
Andy Buse, Community Activity & Lifestyle Officer for South Somerset District Council is delighted with the project’s success and commented, “It’s fantastic to see young people out in their local area playing football and trying new skills. I’d like to thank South Somerset Homes for their financial support and helping to make the project possible”.
In addition to Monmouth Road, the project has run in various locations throughout South Somerset including Langport, Castle Cary, Wincanton, Ilminster and Bruton. rd@
