South Somerset Homes residents
enjoy Christmas festivities in the summer
2 September 2005
Residents at the South Somerset Homes owned extra care sheltered housing scheme at Pearson House in Yeovil have been enjoying the festivities of Christmas in the middle of the summer.
A resident who had moved from the scheme to a nearby nursing home gave some money to the scheme as a thank you present and asked for it to be spent on the residents.
The Scheme Manager and her team of staff who regularly organise sausage and mash or fish and chips lunches for the residents decided to do a full Christmas Dinner as they thought that it would be a lovely surprise for the residents and really good fun. The staff at the scheme even went to the trouble of putting up and decorating a Christmas tree and playing Christmas Carols during their lunch.

Jean Jacobs, a resident at the scheme said, “We had an absolutely wonderful time, eating and singing carols, it was a lovely surprise as we had no idea. I always think that it is such a shame that we only celebrate Christmas once a year and so to celebrate it twice has been very enjoyable, I think that we should do it every year!”
