Eddie and Erika were living in Germany during the War at the time . They both met when Eddie’s friend was dating a German girl and he was introduced to Erika. They both learnt how to speak German and English. Within two weeks they started courting and have been inseparable ever since.

Eddie asked Erika to marry him and on the 12 February 1955 they married at a Registry Office in Wolfenbüttel, Germany.

When asked what they felt was the secret to staying together for 50 years , Eddie said, “The recipe for our happiness is that we both trust each other and have a fun sense of humour!”
