SSH sheltered scheme residents are entertained by Elvis

Residents of a South Somerset Homes’ owned extra care sheltered housing scheme at Laburnum Drive in Somerton have enjoyed an afternoon performance of singing and dancing with Elvis.

The Elvis look-alike, whose real name is Tim Bassett, performed some old time favourites including Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog and Blue Suede Shoes.

Residents, family and friends enjoyed a buffet lunch and eldest resident Hilda Ling, who is 101 years old, had a personal performance of her own! Hilda said, ‘He was delightful, and I felt very honoured .’

Sue Lewis, Scheme Manager at Laburnum Drive said, ‘ We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon singing and dancing with the legendary King of rock and roll; he still is very much alive!’
