South Somerset Homes residents have war time 60th anniversary celebration party

Residents at two sheltered schemes in Curry Rivel and Fivehead recently got together for a 60 th anniversary celebration party to mark 60 years since the end of World War Two. They all dressed up, ate lots of wartime food such as bread and butter pudding, treacle tart and rock cakes and sang Vera Lynn songs all afternoon.

Parsonage Place in Curry Rivel and St Martins Close in Fivehead, which are owned and managed by South Somerset Homes, had a wonderful afternoon together eating and singing and sharing their wartime experiences.
Peggy Read who is a resident at Parsonage Place said, " I was a land girl in Kent during the war. We have really enjoyed having a celebration today and singing the old songs. We also remembered all those who gave up their lives for us in the war".
