24 June 2003

Two sheltered housing schemes in Yeovil have raised over £1000 for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice. Malmesbury Court Sheltered Housing Scheme and Monksdale Sheltered Housing Scheme, which are both owned and managed by South Somerset Homes, have raised the money through many different activities including holding bring and buy sales, coffee mornings, bingo, raffles and afternoon of music for the residents.

Sandra Priddle, Assistant Scheme Manager at Malmesbury Court said, “We are thrilled to have raised £1000 for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice and what makes it even better is that we had a lovely time too!”

June Higgins, Scheme Manager at Monksdale said, “It is wonderful that both schemes have organised so many activities in order to raise money for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice. We are pleased to have raised £100 to add to the money raised by Malmesbury Court.”

In thanking the residents of Malmesbury Court and Monksdale Sheltered Housing Schemes, Leo Hayward, Director of Fundraising at St Margaret's Somerset Hospice said “We are so grateful for these marvellous donations and support for our charity's work. With the residents permission we will put these donations towards our work to establish our new hospice ‘St Margaret's in Yeovil' which we hope to open for patients in September.”
