24 August 2004

Pictured here is Margaret Fisk, the tutor for this course presenting Pam Durston (Scheme Manager, South Somerset Homes) with her certificate surrounded by the other Scheme Managers from South Somerset Homes, Riviera Housing Association, Mendip Housing and East Dorset Housing Association. Stood behind Pam and Margaret is Darrell Jackson (Head of Community Services, South Somerset Homes).

A group of twelve Sheltered Housing Scheme Managers were awarded the EdExcel Certificate in Sheltered Housing this month at the headquarters of South Somerset Homes. Darrell Jackson, Head of Community Services, presented the Scheme Managers with their certificates.

The Certificate in Sheltered Housing course is designed for frontline workers in a sheltered or supported housing environment who are seeking a professional qualification to underpin their experience. Eleven Scheme Managers successfully completed the course last year. This year Scheme Managers from Riviera Housing Association, Mendip Housing and East Dorset Housing Association also successfully completed the course, which is run in house by South Somerset Homes.

Darrell Jackson, Head of Community Services said, “The Scheme Managers have worked hard to achieve this qualification and have gained a great deal from the course. It has strengthened their professionalism and it has also provided them with the confidence of knowing that they have succeeded in obtaining a valuable qualification that will help them not only in their daily working lives but also in their careers."
