South Somerset Homes tenants learn to surf the net
26 July 2004

South Somerset Homes recently hosted a ‘Silver Surfers' day at the Alvington offices in Yeovil. This was open to tenants over the age of fifty and was an opportunity to give them the chance to ‘shake hands with the Internet'.

Tenants were able to book one-hour sessions and members of staff were available at each computer to help them access and ‘surf' the Internet. They looked at sites that were of an interest at a pace that was suitable for them.

Karen Davy, Community Involvement Officer at South Somerset Homes said, “Everyone that came had a wonderful day and enjoyed the new experience, we are hoping to run further sessions again in the future.”

Tenant, Dora Hatherley said, “It has been a fantastic day, very helpful indeed. The small informal and friendly groups worked really well and having some one there to help was excellent. Thank you very much for a marvellous day.”
