One of South Somerset Homes’ sheltered housing tenants recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Flo Edwards, who lives at Hales Meadow Sheltered Housing scheme in Mudford near Yeovil celebrated her special day with her friends and family.

Tenants from the scheme and members of her family got together to provide Flo a present of a complete makeover of her flat and a wonderful party to remember the day.

Flo Edwards (100 year old birthday girl).

Flo Edwards has lived in Somerset for most of her life. She was born in Manchester on 28th July 1904 and moved to Yeovil when she was 23. She worked at Reckleford Infants Community School serving school dinners to the children and then at Westlands when it was a new employer in the town. She loved dancing and met her husband at a Lufton Camp dance. She still even walks across the field to the Post Office. Flo insists that her longevity is due to having a healthy diet and keeping active. “I can blame good food and hard work for so many years!”
