SSH Scheme Managers receive National Certificate of Professional Practice in Sheltered Housing
29th February 2008
Eight South Somerset Homes scheme managers have received a National Certificate of Professional Practice in Sheltered Housing after nine months of studying. The nationally recognised qualification is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of staff who work in Sheltered Housing. The course covered a wide range of subjects and topics that are linked to service provision in sheltered housing. The course curriculum is designed to enhance the skills that are needed by staff that provide front line customer care and support services to service users and also to develop their management skills. A key aspect of the course was to provide the scheme managers an opportunity to learn more about the wider issues that impact on sheltered housing.
A celebration event was held on Wednesday 27 th February at South Somerset Homes headquarters, where the student’s certificates were presented by the tutor, Ray Sawyer James. Chief Executive Geoff Atkinson and Director of Housing David Mansfield attended the celebration and had the opportunity to read through samples of the coursework completed by the scheme managers and ask any questions regarding the course.
Chief Executive Geoff Atkinson said ‘We are very proud of our team mates who were awarded their nationally recognised certificates. The Scheme Managers have worked hard to achieve this qualification and have gained a great deal from the course. It has strengthened their professionalism and it has also provided them with the confidence of knowing that they have succeeded in obtaining a valuable qualification that will help them not only in their daily working lives but also in their careers.’
