Residents donate £250 to new doctors surgery
29 March 2004

Julian Hart (Doctor at the Queen Camel Medical Centre), Sue Wright (Scheme Manager at Cleaveside Close, Queen Camel), Margery Brooks (resident at the scheme aged 88 years)

Residents of a sheltered housing scheme in Queen Camel have donated over £250.00 to the new local doctor's surgery. Cleaveside Close Sheltered Housing Scheme, which is owned and managed by South Somerset Homes, have raised the money through jumble sales, coffee mornings and by sponsoring of one of the doctors at the surgery to complete a cycle marathon.

Sue Wright, Scheme Manager said, “We know that at some time we will all benefit from the services offered at the new surgery and so we thought that it was right and proper to donate the money we raised to it.”

Julian Hart, a doctor at the surgery said, “We are very grateful to the residents at Cleaveside Close for the money that they have donated to us. We are putting the money towards buying new equipment for the surgery.”

The Queen Camel Medical Centre, which officially opened in September 2003, is located in West Camel Road in Queen Camel.
