Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) Maths and English.

Desirable

  • CLAITS, or similar including word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • RSA Typewriting and/or Wordprocessing Stage II.
  • Microsoft Office – Word and Excel.
  • Audio typing.

 

Experience

Essential

  • Worked in office environment for up to two years.
  • Dealing with people face to face and by telephone.
  • Office administration experience.
  • Working as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) - wordprocessing/ spreadsheets/ databases.
  • Audio typing.
  • Switchboard operation/ reception work.
  • Knowledge of local authority/ social housing.

 

Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Good communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Computing skills/ numerate.
  • Common sense/ initiative/ ability to prioritise.
  • Able to follow tasks through.
  • Flexibility (maintain office cover).
  • Works comfortably in busy environment.

  • Able to deal with more than one task at once.
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers.
  • Methodical approach to work.
  • Accuracy.
  • IT literate.
  • Willingness to try new tasks.
