What is a Residents Partnership?

There are four Area Residents Partnerships within South Somerset. They consist of elected representatives from the area, some from local residents’ associations and some as individual tenants. Each Area Partnership has adopted the same constitution setting out its aims and objectives and has elected a chairman, vice-chairman and secretary. They are tenant-led with officer support when required. Tenant Board Members are part of the Partnership, which enables them to work effectively in conjunction with South Somerset Homes to influence policy matters. The local groups meet at various locations around the district, and these meetings are open to all tenants of South Somerset Homes.

What is involved?

  • You will be expected to attend Partnership Meetings on a regular basis, generally one meeting a month either in the afternoon or evening.
  • Be willing to read about and comment on the way South Somerset Homes runs its housing services.
  • Attend occasional training sessions.
  • Be willing to try to represent the views of residents in your area and be contacted by them about matters that concern them.
